PALETTE ART GALLERY: THE TRUE ESSENCE OF SCULPTURE
Art is an inherent part of many cultures and civilisations. Through colour, sculpture, design and interpretative arts, people have used creative expression for many centuries. In the heart of the bustling historic town of Stellenbosch, and with a second venue in the Cape Quarter Piazza in Cape Town, The Palette Gallery is a hub of creative expression, showcasing bronze sculptures and paintings from local artists ranging from abstract art to typical South African landscapes.
Sculpture is the art of carving, modelling, welding, or otherwise producing figurative or abstract works of art in three dimensions. Dating back to prehistory and classical antiquity, sculpture has been a prominent part of world history and today it continues to be a much-respected and adorned art form. Sculpture requires patience and skill and sculptors may select from various techniques and materials to achieve a desired outcome. Inspired by human forms and the animal kingdom, there is much on offer in terms of sculptural interpretations available from The Palette Gallery. The sheer size of some sculptures is what first impresses the viewer. On closer inspection, it is the finer details and skill in carving and shaping the finished product that is the true mastery behind every sculpture. Naturally, these exquisite artforms are open for interpretation.
They easily add depth and interest to any space. Whether used within a home or outside in a lush garden, sculptures are intriguing and often captivating to the eye and mind. The viewer is often left to gaze upon a detailed form and to translate and appreciate it in their own unique and individual way. There are also a host of paintings available from The Palette Gallery, which are diverse in theme and medium. Here you can choose among African and Contemporary art to Realism and Abstract paintings.
