Obbligato contemporary tableware
Looking for stylish, sustainable tableware? Then look no further than Cape Town-based manufacturer Obbligato and its wide range of contemporary tableware, including cork placemats.
“We manufacture an exciting range of functional placemats to decorate tables for any occasion,” says the company.
And while many may think that placemats have fallen out of style, placemats are actually far from outdated and serve a valuable function – protecting table surfaces from heat, food and water stains.
In more decorative terms, placemats are also used to prettify table settings and indicate seating positions at a table.
To help decorate your table, Obbligato offers a wide range of designs and colourways, including botanical prints, Shwe Shwe and polka-dot designs, and African and Delft patterns.
“These placemats can be chosen from our exclusive catalogue or be customised to suit your design or event to make them unique or branded for use in a commercial or hospitality environment,” Obbligato says, adding that all their placemats are made to order and that the manufacturing time is approximately 4 to 5 weeks.
Best of all, the laminated placemats are made with eco-friendly cork backing.
“Cork is a sustainable, biodegradable and eco-friendly material that is 100% natural. This impermeable, buoyant and elastic material is fire resistant with insulation properties that make it ideal for placemats,” Obbligato explains.
“These benefits, along with sustainable production processes and easy recycling make cork an excellent material for homeware.”
