Mervyn Gers: Nature Inspired Ceramics & Glazes
Mervyn Gers specialises in creating bespoke tableware and ceramics for the discerning. Mervyn’s greatest influence comes from the far Northern Cape – the Province of his birth.
The beauty of the landscapes – the desert sand dunes, the sapphire blue sky, and the greens of khaki-bush and camel thorn trees inspired the studio’s 2019 Autumn glaze range, which will be displayed at the Cape Town Homemakers Expo from 29 August – 1 September 2019 (CTICC).
Be sure to diarize this event and gain inspiration for your home at this year’s Cape Homemakers Expo!
Mervyn invites collaboration to find the perfect combination of shapes, glazes and metallic lustres to enhance food presentation and complement the ambience and décor of a dining room or restaurant
At the studio they make their own clay, mix their own glazes and print their own transfers which allows the team to produce unique ranges and pieces tailor-made to client’s needs.
Throughout the production line, quality is under control at each step in the process, ensuring products that can withstand the rigours of constant use or a commercial kitchen.
Handmade in the studio in Cape Town, each product passes through 22 pairs of hands between the clay studio and dispatch area. Since 2011 the team has grown from 4 to 45.
By purchasing your unique Mervyn Gers Ceramics tableware, you are actively supporting proven, sustainable local job creation.
