Light Up Your Life With Stadl Art

Stadl Art is a steampunk design atelier run by Johan Stadler in the beautiful harbour town of Mossel Bay.

One Saturday afternoon Johan received information about a cinema which had closed down two years before. According to the information, the owner of the cinema removed three Cinemeccanica Milano film projectors (made in Italy, 1965), which the owner placed in one of his storerooms.

After getting hold of the owner he received news that all three film projectors had been disposed of at the scrap metal yard and that unfortunately it had been crushed and destroyed. Almost in tears, Johan decided to do something to re-purpose antique items and make them inheritable.

What started as a hobby to collect antiques and vintage items, has now transformed into a unique venture to create lighting and décor pieces for homes, businesses and restaurants. Vintage items are used to create bespoke lighting and décor items with a steampunk style which will be inheritable for generations to come. Each piece is unique as the antique era reveals itself through investment art.

One of the signature items are the beautifully re-purposed typewriter lights. These typewriters date back to the 1930’s and are sure to attract attention in your home. These items are multi-purpose and can be used as a bedside / desk lamp or to create atmosphere in the corner of a room.

Aardverwarming – Translated: “Global warming”:

Handmade steampunk light with 1500 antique coins and vintage typewriter embedded in resin. Inspired by the thought of global warming as the antique era reveals itself through melting ice.

Remington 16 –

A Vintage Remington 16 typewriter light dating back to the 1930’s, is ideal as a study or bedside lamp. Clean classic look.

‘n Briefie aan jou –Translated: “A letter to you”.

Inspired by the thought of how people communicated before modern day technology. Remington Model 5 typewriter light. Ideal as a table / desk lamp.
