Leroy Merlin: Summer Decor Trends
LEROY MERLIN reveals the latest interior style trends to inspire your next project. Choose the new Contemporary Authenticity trend which effortlessly combines two opposite styles; modernity and authenticity. Alternatively, go for something Glamourous with a Retro-Refreshed trend or Country Charm.
NATURE – Contemporary Authenticity
Termed NATURE the trend highlights contemporary lines and raw surfaces, showcasing colour palettes and materials that are natural and globally warmer and a little darker than last year. The natural materials add rustic elements but it’s balanced with contemporary architecture.
Incorporating the Japandi trend of slat panels, the lines are contemporary and surfaces are raw. Nature continues with the previous season’s interest in the Wabi-Sabi aesthetic which appreciates beauty that is imperfect and incorporates matte and slightly rougher textures. This Summer trend brings to our living area, a physicality and a connection to nature which balances our technologically immersive daily lives. The contrast between hand-crafted decorative shapes and minimalist objects is the signature look in this trend. Shapes are curvy and smooth, yet geometric, with a touch of irregularity.
GLAMOUR – Retro-refreshed
The Glamour Core trend which is easily described as retro-refreshed has found its hyper decorative luxurious and comfortable style continue to infiltrate the global commercial industry, displayed in restaurants, hotels and bars globally. The signature elements are rounded shapes and arches, Terrazzo on walls and floors and deep rich colours on walls and furniture. Essential pieces in this trend are velvet curtains and cushions. You can also add gilded metallic structures for lighting and functional decorative accessories.
The story continues this Summer with a rich geometric patterned style, which is influenced by the modernity of the popular Art Deco design style of the 1930’s. The trend evolves from very soft, sweet and “boudoir” to strongly decorative and eccentric in the colour palettes and materials. Add colour with warm yellows, reds and emerald greens to spark joy, and add golden details, oblong shaped lighting and and coloured glass vases to keep the retro look consistent.
COUNTRY CHARM – New cottage
Country Charm, is inspired by the romantic look of the 19th Century cottage, the era where the original cottage was an authentic, rural and practical space that opitimised life on a working farm. Interestingly this style is one of the most researched concepts on the web by young adults today.
The ‘New Cottage’ charming country house now becomes the new Eden escape. It’s an ode to the idealistic “farm life”. This design theme is influenced by the diversity of country landscapes and their colours, with reclaimed materials as signature elements. Get the look by incorporating dried flower tones, elements of straw, and a colour palette of yellow and grey green. Soft and sweet flower patterns are added on textiles, wallpapers, fabrics and tiles.
Add vintage style hanging lights, framed wall panels and Shaker inspired shapes and furniture and the look is yours.
BOHEME FASHION – Unapologetically bold
The BOHEME FASHION Trend brings in a vibrant mix of bright colours, think Cape Town’s hillside Bo-Kaap lined with bright coloured houses, and the vibe of its lively streets. It’s all about South African Summer, Surf culture, pleasure and enjoyment. Add ethnic motifs and pop graphics, to sum up the fun! Furthermore, explosive colours and patterns with a no rules mix and match attitude will excite and stimulate all the senses. With LEROY MERLIN you can therefore bring all these feels into your living space.
