Handmade by Me: A nature-inspired Biotica Range
One thing that many designers have in common is the ability to seek and find inspiration in the natural world. Green spaces speak about our innate human connection to nature and the environment around us.
As a Cape Town based company, Handmade by Me incorporates three of our favourite things, all while embracing the natural world in a new range of products known as Biotica. These include: 1. Handmade: This local organisation is all about bespoke, hand-crafted designs which we absolutely love. 2. Made in RSA: They design and produce everything locally in South Africa. Local is lekker after all! 3. Embracing Nature: The new range is all about vibrant green hues and nature-inspired designs.
The latest Biotica Collection from Handmade by Me is a celebration of green living and draws attention to our ability to relate to living organisms. It is a fun display of foliage and flora specifically suited to our local markets and geared towards those who love the environment. As a local producer of bespoke textiles and locally crafted products, Handmade By Me continues to evolve, expanding their local range of products which are quickly taking on a life of their own. With regard to the new Biotica range, they explain: “While having surrounded ourselves with the leaves, flowers and cuttings of the most beautiful plants over the past year, largely thanks to Windowsill, we didn’t have to go too far to find inspiration for our new range.” In a vibrant display of greenery, the Biotica range boasts intricate details of foliage in bespoke wallpaper designs, and through a number of locally crafted products and home accessories including plates and trays. The popular foliage wallpaper is one of our favourites, with a textured finish that is easily applied. It can also be ordered as a wall vinyl or a non-woven wallpaper which has a matte paper-feel to it. The other thing we love about this Cape Town based organisation is that their products are designed and produced locally within South Africa. Their fabrics are all high quality natural fibre textiles and are either screen or digitally printed locally using eco-friendly water-based inks.
