Creating Moody Elegance the Lemon Litchi by IV way

It is officially May and that means that Winter is around the corner. In the past few years there has been a rise in dramatic and moody colour palettes in interior design. Creating the perfect cosy and earthy interior is a must, to add some extra warmth and comfort before the winter. Picture rich, comforting golds, spicy terracottas, mossy greens, inviting rust and warm-toned, deep moody blues. This trending colour story creates a rich, dramatic and welcoming look and feel, and will transform any interior into an elegant and luxurious space.

Go moody with colour

Some of the easiest ways to bring in this colour palette is through wall colour, upholstery and soft furnishings. We have had a look through the Lemon Litchi collection and have chosen the two scatter cushion designs that we love to instantly add that moody drama that we are after.

This moody, navy scatter cushion features the spectacular Great Horned owl, perched among branches and leaves. The colouring of the leaves adds that touch of life and pop of colour. We find all the moody hues that we are looking for in the greenery and autumnal leaves.

This floral scatter cushion features tulips and cherry blossoms with soft hues of cream, orange, rust, green and mustard set against a soft, dusty orange- terracotta background. It celebrates the beauty and shape of the tulip leaves in a very earthy, organic and natural design.

Seen above, you can appreciate the two mixed designs in one space. By placing the floral scatter cushion at the back, this pulls all the focus towards the eye-catching owl in the front. The floral design acts as a wonderful background that still adds print and interest to the layout.

The trick to create an interesting layout with your scatter cushions is playing with different sizes and textures. We put this all on a rust-coloured velvet couch and painted the walls in a mossy olive green to really make the rust couch pop.

Creating intrigue with layering different textures is also vital to create an appealing space. We mixed the velvet upholstery with the roughly knitted throw, topped with the velvet owl scatter in front of the woven texture floral cushion.

Overall this takes the eye on a journey of colour, texture and shape. The perfect mix to bring that moody, cosy and inviting elegance that this trending colour story is all about.
