Pietro Pazzi original
Early morning as the sun rises over the Namib desert. It is already warm, with another hot day ahead of us. As the sun’s rays reveal the smooth curves of the majestic Sossusvlei’s red dunes, one cannot help but wonder at nature’s incredible creative power.
Those billions of sand grains come together with the artful aid of the wind to form such beautiful contours.
The simplicity of lines at the top of the dunes, with shadow on one side and light on the other, creates abstract images that instil a sense of calm amongst its order.
To me, only a few things make as dramatic a statement as a large black and white print of a vast dune rising to the heavens. Or the lines of several dunes as they crisscross to form patterns emulating the waves at sea.
Whether as a black & white or a deep colour print, dune images, with their minimalistic lines and curved shapes, are one of the few images that enhance many different types of interiors.
Whether as a majestic mural in the entrance hall, the central art piece hanging in the lounge or boardroom, the gym or a place of leisure, dune images bestow upon a space a sense of calm, wonder and grandeur.
As one rises from ground level, one sees the red ocean of dunes reaching as far as the eye can see. With the sun rising in the east, it is as if the dunes are transformed into a dancing fire of red flames.
These types of images are filled with energy. The energy of a new dawn, the power of passion, and the energy of adventure. These images work as well in the bedroom as in business settings.
