Origin Art – A Platform for Artists To Thrive
As a beacon of artistic innovation, Origin Art is a mainstay on the bustling Keyes Art Mile in Rosebank, Johannesburg. The team’s commitment to spotlighting the compelling voices of South African artists—both seasoned and burgeoning talents—remains unwavering. Origin Art is not just a gallery; it’s an ever-evolving platform for artists who convey profound messages through their work, and the team is passionate about the role they play in the art community.
With each new project, the gallery becomes a hub of excitement, and they are eager to share these developments with art enthusiasts and collectors alike. The “Unlocking Your Collection” series, a testament to art’s accessibility, offers extraordinary pieces at a variety of price points, ensuring there’s something for every collector. Anticipate its public unveiling at the next First Thursday event on 7 December 2023.
For those seeking an early exclusive, the collection is open for inquiries, especially as we approach the season of giving, marked by Black Friday and the year-end festivities.
The exhibit, ‘Last Days in The Sun’, was on display until 21 November 2023. This exhibit featured the stirring works of Bevan de Wet and Catherine Ocholla. This exhibition posed a contemplative narrative on the tension between societal change, technological advancement, and environmental conservation, encouraging a dialogue on the fragility of our shared habitat.
As Johannesburg welcomes the warmer months, it’s the perfect opportunity to explore the city’s rich tapestry of galleries, with Origin Art offering an enriching experience. The latest exhibition opened on 25 November 2023. This exhibit, entitled ‘Interwoven Identities: Lace, Legacy, and Liberation’, features Fathema Bemath and Buqaqawuli Nobakada. This exhibition promises to challenge and enchant with its powerfully feminine perspective.
