Artistic Language with Foreign Interferenz
Foreign Interferenz is a multimedia exhibition that is the result of an international collaboration.
Lars J. Fischedick (Cape Town) invited two German colleagues – Christian F. Kintz (Hamburg) and Mathias Hornung (Berlin) – to create work together for the industrial space of the Corbeau building over the last three months. The artists have engaged with the dynamics of foreign-ness – of space, place and each other’s practice.
C. F. Kintz
The notion of “interference” has both negative and positive connotations: in music it describes the layered collision of soundwaves, but in a political context it means a corrupting influence. How can interference be manifested in a non-figurative artistic language, and what happens when there are three distinct voices working on the same project?
C. F. Kintz
The linguistic interplay of English and German terms in the title refers to a tension between acoustic patterns and cultural values, between the scientific and the existential. Come and witness the result of these chaotic vibrations.
Mathias Hornung
Come and witness the result of these chaotic vibrations on for the next few weeks until 17 February 2019. Now on at Corbeau, 214 Buitengracht Street, Cape Town.
