SHF: The Evergreen Kelly Higgs
We are thrilled to introduce Kelly Higgs as one of the next faces of the #shfgeneration and #shfdefineyourself campaign. As one of South Africa’s most accomplished botanical artists, Kelly has a passion for all that is fresh and decorative and brings a classical approach to a modern age.
Kelly’s distinctive botanical paintings are bathed in colour and light, and have won admirers around the world for their vibrancy and composition. “I’m colour obsessed,” says Kelly. “Green is the new black.” Her greatly sought after, original paintings have been exhibited at a prestigious London gallery, as well as at several private, solo shows in Johannesburg.
Her passion for painting florals, and background in Graphic Design, has also led to collaborations with select international companies, designing artwork for a variety of decorative products. She is constantly painting and designing new work in her unique and distinctive style, propelling classical botanicals to the modern age with a combination of vibrant colours and whimsical compositions.
Inspired by Chinoiserie and everything that is botanical, her exquisitely detailed watercolour technique is self-taught, and her artwork has become a brand in itself. You could be next!
