Plascon House Tour: The Earthy Tones of A Stylish Apartment

This striking apartment hits the right notes with contemporary mid-century modern furniture, eye-catching design elements, a sultry colour palette and luxury finishes. The space feels trendy and lived-in; the perfect family loft based in TriBeCa, Lower Manhattan, New York City.

Designer Kevin Dumais is the creative source for this striking abode – blending the owners’ personal tastes, needs and style with crisp, modern designs that are filled with character.

Carefully mixing midcentury classics, contemporary art, cool hues, and rich textures, he gives clients’ homes a metropolitan elegance that feels casual and current. Unsurprisingly, his brand of unfussy sophistication is a hit among young Manhattan families — including this one that recently tapped him to craft a home in their TriBeCa loft.

Patterned rugs, glorious wall art and dark painted ceilings all add to the richness of the living room. A wrap-around grey sofa system is oh so inviting in this space and a textured wall, framed in wood adds another dimension of texture, tone and style to this room.

The table and chairs in the dining area are classic; the custom ceiling fixture is by O’lampia, the flooring is white oak, and the room is painted in an intense white tone which adds to the brightness of the space.

The master bedroom and bathroom are a retreat in and of themselves. We love the laid-back luxury evoked in these spaces, from the wonderfully intricate patterns of the area rug used underfoot in the bedroom to the gorgeous marble tones fixtures in the bathroom.

The end result is a wonderfully modern, mid-century modern loft apartment filled with decadent touches.
