My Africa Designer Collection – Introducing Isibusiso Sabaphansi by Viva Sage
We are thrilled to introduce the Isibusiso Sabaphansi throw from Aranda as the latest addition to the My Africa Designer Collection, created in collaboration with the celebrated South African artist Viva Sage, also known as the Dandy Artist. This throw, now available online, will have its in-person launch in December when Viva Sage returns to South Africa.
Following the success of the My Africa Himba throw in 2023, Isibusiso Sabaphansi carries forward Aranda’s dedication to sharing African stories through beautifully crafted textiles. Part of the Premium Bella Vita range, this high-quality throw is offered in three stunning colourways: Yellow/Old Royal, Yellow/Red, and Natural/Wild Dove.
About the Designer
Viva Sage Thabethe, a self-taught photographer, artist, and designer from Soweto, channels the bold spirit of South African culture in his work. Now living in Belgium, he infuses his art with the colours and stories of home, preserving heritage through contemporary design. His work is a celebration of African roots and a powerful tool for educating the next generation about the beauty and significance of tradition.

The name Isibusiso Sabaphansi, meaning “a blessing from my ancestors,” captures the essence of Viva Sage’s creative vision. Inspired by memories of his grandmother crafting ukhamba pottery, this design reflects his deep connection to rural life and family heritage.
