Kino: A Cape Town Based Furniture Brand
Local is lekker and when it comes to furniture innovation, we’re spoilt for choice with the amount of quality local manufacturers and suppliers to be found on South African soil. With a base in the Mother City, Kino is a growing collection of furniture, designed with a commitment to quality. Their craftsmanship ensures excellent detailing and finishing in order to supply valued customers with heirloom quality products, which hold a timeless aesthetic.
Kino was founded by Nico Hendriksz and Anton Louw, two product designers that share a passion for creating beautiful objects. “We do not sacrifice quality for quantity. We have a small workforce and this ensures that every product gets the personal attention it needs during production.” Kino’s products are designed to be original pieces that serve an aesthetic and functional purpose. Careful material considerations are made to create a product that holds a quality finish, while serving its purpose of human interaction. Some of our favourites from Kino include: The Slant Desk: This desk features a matt black finish with solid Beech legs. The three drawer boxes are constructed from furniture grade Birch plywood. The Slant Piano Bench compliments the design and functionality of the Desk. Slant Clothing Rail: Designed for the organized individual, this freestanding unit is perfect for any bedroom or studio apartment. This product has ample open hanging space, 3 Birch plywood drawers and an Aluminium shoe plate to neatly store and display a wide range of clothing items. The drawer boxes are reversible in order to change between two different handle profiles. The clothing rail can be positioned to accommodate coats and dresses. Lucy Compactum #2: Lucy Compactum #2 features a 4 drawer configuration with a laundry hole as well as a quick access storage compartment for baby-changing essentials. The construction consists of a painted shell, Birch plywood faces and turned beech legs. Drawers are fitted with soft closing runners. All paints and sealers are water-based and non-toxic.
