10 Tips to Organizing a Small Bedroom with Loads Of Living

Is your bedroom on the smaller side and do you struggle to keep it organized and clutter free? Here Loads Of Living offer 10 simple tips to change the way you arrange your precious master suite and to give the illusion that your space is actually bigger than it is.

1. Use the wall space for storage In a smaller room where floor space is limited, get creative and think of ways to organize your life and belongings using the wall space in your bedroom. Add shelves above doors, hooks for creative storage of jewellery and coats, and hanging baskets to collect your smaller items. 2. Under bed storage Never underestimate that empty space that continues to gather dust, right beneath your bed. Invest in linen fabric bags and store away your out of season clothing under your bed – or customise drawers to fit beneath the bed for added storage in a smaller bedroom.

3. Declutter Get rid of all your bits and bobs that don’t really belong in the bedroom. Has your craft collection made its way to the bedroom – find a new home for it elsewhere in your house and let your bedroom become a place of peace and relaxation instead. 4. Choose the right furniture In a smaller bedroom, it is important to choose the right furniture pieces to offer maximum function in a smaller space. Choose smaller bedside tables or a dresser with added storage space to maximise your ability to organise the space. Multi-functional furniture is best, so go for items that will add storage and style.

5. Clear out your wardrobe Your wardrobe probably contains items that you don’t need and won’t ever wear again. Clear this out and make space for other items that can be neatly stowed away behind doors.

6. Get quality lighting Lighting helps to create an ambience and in a smaller room, you will need ample lighting to help the room feel more put together. Opt for pendants that can be installed on walls and off the floor – these do not require added space and can serve as bedside lighting too. 7. Sheer fabrics and window treatments In smaller rooms, create air flow and light by selecting sheer window treatments to allow maximum airflow in the space. The room will appear brighter and less closed in!

8. Use crates, baskets and clever storage solutions Opt for added storage that you can place discretely under a desk, in a wardrobe or under the bed. Crates and baskets are clever devices to house some of your items and add style to your room. Foot-end storage at the end of your bed is also a lifesaver – store linen and bedding in a makeshift ottoman that doubles as a seating solution. 9. Go minimalist Declutter your space and choose to showcase only the bare essentials. The room will feel more organized and less cramped when you have a neutral and clean palette to work with.

10. Built-in closets Invest in quality storage in the bedroom. Even in smaller bedrooms, built-in closets can cover a multitude of sins and may instantly solve your clutter problem. Customise your wardrobe design with drawers, hanging space and shelves and soon enough you will have more than enough space to organize your precious items.
