Step Inside This Luxury Home in Portugal
When it comes to luxury living, we are always on the lookout for innovative new ideas and the latest design concepts. Today’s home in Portugal ticks all the right boxes with modernist architecture and a charming interior with midcentury Italian flair.
Right on the outskirts of Porto, a luxury home in Portugal is all about beauty and elegance, created by Porto-based design studio Oitoemponto. The design firm was founded in 1993 by Portuguese Artur Miranda and French Jacques Bec. In their words, Oitoemponto is the collision of ‘terribly complementary personalities‘ with a happy ending.
To recognize the DNA of the brand is to understand that this story is made of many others that move back and forward, whenever a project so requires.
Today’s home was met with intrigue. It is located within a 50 acre area on the outskirts of Porto and was purchased as a family home – for a couple with three boys. The brief appealed to massive construction. The owners’ ideas were somewhat out there – pushing the boundaries in order to create a distinct new look.
Oitoemponto design studio came on board, sharing a love for proportion and combining solid elements with subtle notes. Overall, interior, architectural, and landscape design nod to midcentury modern Italian design.
The house, still a massive compound, is mainly built of local white granite locally sourced – no better way to blend the architectural project with the landscape.
On the inside, Oitoemponto employed a limited yet luxurious cluster of materials: bronze Armani marble, polished Venetian plaster, lacquer, and wood veneer. This beautiful blend adds to the textural delights that can be found throughout this home.
Furthermore, each room is spacious, and despite the extra size of adornments, all areas of this luxury home in Portugal are airy and have plenty of space. Corridors are equally large and carry a unique luminescence. Light enters the house from all sides and adds to the home’s allure.
In the end, all the elements work together to create a beautiful space for family life. A luxurious, inviting and elegant home.
