Step Inside The LA Home of Giampiero Tagliaferri
A captivating retreat for interior designer Giampiero Tagliaferri, this Los Angeles house is a stunning showcase of modernist decor and 20th-century Italian flair.
Packed with both renowned and lesser-known treasures, the space features works by famous designers like Gae Aulenti, Vico Magistretti, Joe Colombo, and Ettore Sottsass, as well as pieces by underrated talents such as Cesare Leonardi and Franca Stagi.
Originally from Bergamo, Italy, Tagliaferri, a stylish 38-year-old, gained experience in Milan working in marketing and design for the fashionable eyewear brand Oliver Peoples. He eventually became the company’s creative director. However, realizing his true passion lies in interior design, he moved to Los Angeles and now focuses full-time on his interior design business, handling projects in the U.S. and abroad.
Tagliaferri’s own home in L.A.’s Silver Lake neighbourhood is a testament to his sophisticated taste. Built in 1939 by architect E. Richard Lind, the house blends elements of early California modernism with influences from various cultures. Tagliaferri’s interior design incorporates a diverse array of art, objects, and furnishings. Alongside the Italian design masters, his collections feature contemporary pieces and a unique mix of artworks ranging from Lucio Fontana to John Baldessari.
The house’s original structure remains mostly unchanged, but Tagliaferri revamped the interiors with a fusion of global influences. He added touches like an African bird sculpture, vibrant coloured walls, and a mix of iconic midcentury American and Brazilian modernist furniture. The result is a captivating blend of cultures and design periods that redefine the space.
Mixing the Italian touch with the Japanese shoji screen vibes and creating a sophisticated-simple atmosphere, Tagliaferri created a perfect combination of modernist decor, vintage objects, and minimalistic furnishings.
