Step Inside Hartbeat: The Headquarters of Kevin Hart
Let’s take a peek inside the sprawling new headquarters of comedian Kevin Hart’s media company, Hartbeat, which was once occupied by Oprah Winfrey. Today the space is a fusion of humour, modernity and bold creativity.

A year ago, Hartbeat took over the 40,000-square-foot West Hollywood office building formerly owned by the Oprah Winfrey Network. Following an extensive redesign, Kevin now conducts business in the room where Oprah once pondered a possible presidential run (although there’s no evidence to support this claim).
In a recent video tour by AD, Kevin Hart expressed the unique energy of the room, suggesting that occasionally, he feels a connection with “The Oracle” herself. He playfully contemplates creating a mould of Oprah’s hand to exchange celebratory high-fives, adding a lighthearted touch to the workspace.
Kai Williamson from Studio 7 Design Group spearheaded the redesign, departing from the previous off-white and creamier palette inspired by coastal design. Responding to Kevin’s preference for a more modern and edgy ambience, Williamson embraced open spaces with plenty of glass to encourage collaboration and communication.
Williamson, known for her work on Kevin Hart’s LA restaurants, faced a challenging task with Hartbeat’s new office, which was four times larger than their previous space. The team aimed for a swift transition, giving Williamson only six weeks to complete the design and secure construction permits.
The design revolved around Hartbeat’s core colours—red and black—with Williamson showcasing creativity by proposing the use of Rosa Levanto marble as a core design element. Despite initial scepticism, the bold choice received unanimous approval.
Art also took centre stage in the revamped space, with Creative Art Partners curating a collection featuring artists from Africa and the diaspora, such as Serge Attukwei Clottey, Gideon Appah, Feni Chulumanco, and Moffat Takadiwa.
The screening room, a significant space for the media company, received special attention from Williamson. Opting for a distinctive colour palette, she explains that this room is where the team watches and refines its productions. Kevin humorously suggests that Williamson made this room blue because she loves clouds.
The symbolism of blue, according to Williamson, adds an unexpected and calm touch to the space. Yet, Kevin hints at a post-screening lively atmosphere as the team often heads to the bar area for a celebratory toast.
Noteworthy design elements include Kevin Hart’s desk, a Ventaglio table by Charlotte Perriand for Cassina, reflecting the angles of the Hartbeat logo. Additionally, one of the main lobby areas features a series of paintings called “Old House” by South African artist Feni Chulumanco, chosen by Williamson for its grounding effect and complementary colour palette.
