Plascon House Tour: Whimsical Beach House
Not your conventional beach home vibe, today’s home is a celebration of light tones with a nod to the ocean and its many subtle references.
Just a stone’s throw from the ocean, this home has been designed with comfort and class in mind – great for beach-style entertaining while still elegant. The owner’s bold and daring taste, love of colour, drama, antiques and rich textures, were incorporated into the design.
Pops of colour and interesting textures hint at the many colours of the sea. A beautiful multi-coloured Vistosi chandelier in the entrance hall sets the tone in this home. We love the various hues and translucence of each piece as it dangles above the entryway. It is bold and playful – and foretells the different colour stories that will unfold in the various rooms throughout the home.
A built-in bar adds to the glamour of the living room, complete with custom glass shelving and wine racks above custom blue cabinetry. The slate blue lacquer finish is gorgeous, together with a stripe marmara marble countertop, and matching cabinet and appliance pulls in white burnished bronze. Mirrored exposed back reflects the outside view, while floating glass shelves and cantilevered racks give a sense of lightness, and display glassware and wine bottles like a retail showcase.
Golden hardware and a beveled mirror extend a glamourous touch into the cloakroom. The space feels fresh and elegant – a perfect addition to a contemporary beach house.
