Modern, eclectic with a touch of rustic glam – this is how we would describe today’s modern farmhouse, based in Los Angeles. According to the designer, the owners’ brief was to create something rock n roll with a strong rustic chic interior. From wooden feature walls, metal ceiling sheets to antique furniture and more, the beauty of this home can be found in the playful mix of its farmhouse architecture and eclectic interior styling.

Beautiful concrete flooring adds style to the contemporary porch… and yes that is a chicken wandering free! The house is situated on a working farm with stable and so the outdoors is very much a part of the everyday life of the homeowners. You’ll also have to take a second look to notice that those couches are actually made entirely from concrete – custom-built to suit the space.   Complete with a study, this home caters to the family’s every need. In fact, the study feels masculine and edgy in bold neutral prints and a metal clad ceiling.  The room feels textured and layered with hints of wood, metals, concrete and a custom-built industrial bookshelf to house the library’s collections. The shelves are also the ideal spot for displaying the owners’ own collectables and decor. In the guest loo, a beautiful nature-inspired wallpaper makes for a striking feature wall in a bold charcoal and grey palette with hints of colour that shine through the various animal highlights on display. The occasional chair in this space is fully upholstered in the California state flag, adding to the eclectic feel of this home. Stunning walnut flooring adds depth to the master suite, while a chandelier made from airplane trusses adorns the ceiling space, adding a majestic presence to this room, with high ceilings. A striking gallery wall with vintage prints in golden embellished frames complete the look here. The standout feature in the bathroom is the bold use of flooring with a gorgeous pop of orange for added intrigue. Vintage finds adds to the ambiance while a simple light fitting completes the space.
