Plascon House Tour: A Retro Italian Apartment
Housed in an old Italian building, today’s apartment underwent a full restructure and interior makeover to transform it into the fresh, modern look we see before us.
In keeping with the period features of the building, the home’s facade is kept intact, complete with exposed wooden beams running across the ceiling and large patio doors. The living room of the apartment, once used as an office, was without personality, with loose furniture leaning against the walls: casual, untidy and not very enjoyable. Today, however, it is crisp in a beautiful white palette with modern furniture that includes a striking velvet couch and contemporary lighting. Two arched corridors lead to the rest of the apartment and a small micro kitchen. The layout is a perfect mix of retro and Nordic styles, with an old-school display cabinet and vintage finds paired with modern furnishings. Subtle pops of colour can be found here and add a freshness to this interior, from yellow accent pieces to deep blue furniture and a neutral base with grey, white and beige. The bedroom too has a subtle retro flair with a beautiful art deco backdrop in shades of grey, black and yellow. The pattern draws us in and creates a striking visual focal point in this room. This unit also creates an ideal space for storage above the bed, where designers have selected a few abstract artworks in neutral shades, as not to clash with the retro headboard. The tiny bathroom is bold in blue and although compact, a full use of space is achieved here with raised shelving and a little freestanding corner unit for added space. A porthole styled mirror is used here – adding to the retro feel of the home, but also very much on trend at present. Contact: Plascon Via
