Plascon House Tour: Historic Charmer
A once dark Art Deco house was completely renovated into the light Scandi Melbourne retreat we see today. Striking monochrome art, period features and bright living spaces create a wonderfully relaxing family home.
In the living room, modern white shutters are the ideal window treatment, welcoming in an abundance of natural lighting. Framed portraits in black and white feature on the walls and above the mantel, adding to the Nordic minimalist feel of this room. To add a boost of freshness, greenery in pots are scattered throughout.
Fireplaces make for welcome additions in the living spaces – the perfect place to unwind on a cooler evening. Box windows on either side of the fireplace hint at the Art Deco style of the building, but a palette of white with modern finishes, such as an industrial light fitting, give it a contemporary edge.
The kitchen is soulful and the arrangement of light pendants and stools – all in a row – add a sense of harmony here. We love the massive kitchen island and the use of a simple colour palette to enhance the minimalist feel of this abode. The overall result is a light-filled and inviting room – a foodie’s delight!
The use of a white minimalist palette continues in the bedrooms where the rooms feel bright and relaxing – with dark wood furniture that adds a richness to the space. We also love the matching metallic bedside lights and a gorgeous round rug that ties the whole room together.
