Plascon House Tour: California Cool
Today’s art-filled California home is chic with quirky touches. With a fascinating choice of decor, there is interest to be found in every space – inside and out!
There is no doubt that the homeowner is an interior designer with an eye for detail. In fact, she has pulled out all the stops in this cool California abode to create a welcoming and lively home that we simply adore.
Book-covered wallpaper creates a library feel in the den – created in an underutilized loft space. Comfy couches, wood flooring and a lofty chandelier adds to the elegance and comfort of this space. We also love the use of skylights to increase the natural light filtering throughout this room. Hints of white, gold, wood and blue create a calming palette here.
The breakfast area is trendy and inviting with a chalkboard feature wall, milk bottle chandelier and gorgeous upholstered booth that spans the wall. This room feels spacious and bright and we love that the dark feature wall extends to the ceiling, creating a 3D visual impact.
The couple have collected many mid-century pieces over the years, such as this sideboard, which they like to juxtapose in the property’s traditional setting. A collection of simple white ceramics and a wire sailing boat adds to the textural feast on show here. The painting is a Margaret Keane-inspired vintage piece and adds a dose of colour to this space.
A heavenly bathroom awaits, complete with a Napoli bath by Victoria + Albert and brass finishes for a touch of sheer luxury. The high ceilings make room for a striking pendant and we love the added details of a stylish chair, plush rug and decor that brings this space to life.
The ensuite leads into the master bedroom. Here the furniture is custom made to fit into the angular ceiling space. We love the vintage touches and warm tones offset by the white bathroom.
