Plascon House Tour: A West Seattle Cabin Retreat
Today’s home is a celebration of natural materials – warm rich wooden tones set amid a striking landscape of ocean and forest. It is a modern West Seattle Cabin which has been beautifully restored by its architect owners.
This large property boasts beautiful living and outdoor spaces with balconies that connect to the interior. A wooden terrace wraps around the house and connects to the main living room, offering views out over Puget Sound, which is an inlet of the Pacific Ocean. It also boasts ample dining and seating areas for the owners to experience nature in its fullness.
Views all around
To maximise the space and indoor-outdoor views, large glass windows ensure that you have access to the exterior from almost every angle.
Indoors, subtle changes have made a huge impact. The owners opted to change lighting and finishes for a more mid-century feel. Wooden walls, floors and furniture embrace the organic nature of this retreat. From the entry way through to each room, the spaces feel warm and welcoming. We also love the little library corner with bold built-ins and a gallery wall.
The living room carries the same neutral woody palette, and incorporates vintage mid-century finds and a large, oversized artwork.
A modern twist on a cabin kitchen
The kitchen too has been updated with contemporary finishes such as steel cabinet uppers for a more modern ambience in this space. A vintage chopping block table adds character here and an array of large windows ensures that the kitchen feels bright and spacious.
From the kitchen to the dining room and even the master suite, wooden finishes offer a seamless flow and connects each room to the next. It is a textural feast of natural materials which bring with it a warm and embracing ambience.
We love the overall cabin-feel of this modern mid-century home. With immaculate views and the beauty of indoor-outdoor living, what’s not to love!
