Plascon House Tour: A Soulful New York Family Home
This newly built family home in Long Island New York incorporates bold colours and modern finishes with a palette of cool blues and some vintage finds that bring soul to every room.
We love the mix of tones that add interest in each space around this playful family abode. In the living room, modern low-lying sofas are packed together and add style and comfort to this space. Pops of colour make for a fun and inviting family room for relaxation. Arched ceilings bring architectural charm while modern fittings such as a bespoke chandelier adds interest and texture to this space.
It’s a playful mix of old and new with a classic white framed mirror and vintage coffee table, paired with modern colour-blocked flooring and vibrant seating. A wonderful blend of contemporary and vintage.
The dining room is another fresh and elegant room in this home, boasting colourful artwork, a textured ceiling lamp and bold blue dining chairs. A mix of wood, a classic upholstered cream chair and a bold striped bench add to the colourful details in this enticing space.
The kitchen, on the other hand is crisp and modern – large enough to accommodate a growing family. In cool blues and white, it feels elegant and open, featuring a massive kitchen island with seating for the whole family. A trio of plain white light pendants add to the modern sophistication of this space while blue subway tiles as a backsplash hints at the contemporary nature of this home. Here, blue and white take centre stage, but we love the added bursts of yellow in bold accessories throughout this room.
In the bathroom, the tones of seaside become even more apparent with a mix of blues and white that give this space a fresh and modern appearance. A beautiful mosaic floor energises this space while a striking white tub becomes a showstopper in the middle of this room. We love the variations of blue tones in this space, with cobalts and azures that are intriguing.
The bedroom takes its cue from a similar colour palette of whites and blues. The angular ceiling adds detail to this space, and designers have opted for low-hanging glass globes as bedside lighting to emphasise the sheer height and architectural delight of the curved ceiling. Again, we see a mix of old and new, with a vintage screen paired with a beautiful and modern upholstered bed. Oak flooring and an aqua bed throw completes the look here.
