Plascon House Tour: A Dublin Home of Daring Colour
In today’s four-storey Dublin home, the owner opted to redecorate the entire abode to ensure it became a place she absolutely loved. This is often the key to any good design – making it a place you adore.
The home is located in a friendly Dublin neighbourhood, within in a quiet, tree-lined street close to local shops, restaurants and a park, and just a mile from Dublin city centre.
Although the home did not necessarily need a massive overhaul, the owner wanted to bring in bold colours to put her personal stamp on the place. Inspired by her many travels, the home also takes its lead from many of the exotic locations the owner has experienced firsthand including Tunisia, Morocco and Egypt. She made it known the the design team that they needed to incorporate her collection of treasures and artwork picked up from expeditions and travels.
As a result, each space is beautifully curated in bold colours and exotic finds. The living room is a dramatic blue including custom cabinetry and modern panelling in the same shades. A display case becomes a central point for showcasing her many collections, bringing in bright colours and a wonderful mix of treasures and textures.
The hallway is a bold aubergine colour known as ‘Aged Wine’ and this rich, glossy paint reflects light, making the space feel really bright.
A similar purple shade extends into the kitchen with custom cabinets in this bold tone. Brass trims add a hint of luxury in the kitchen, topped with polished concrete.
The master bedroom and bathroom carry an air of calm and sophistication in shades of green. Hints of wood, together with white linen and custom headboard add to the overall look in the bedroom. All the while, daring tones come to life in a playful bathroom environment.
The overall impression is one of daring colour and excitement.
