Plascon House Tour: A Creative Director’s Parisian Retreat
Paris is known throughout the world as the city of light. It is a place of creative expression and the birthplace of true French design and decor. Today’s home takes us into the flamboyant interior of a creative director. Every room has been carefully crafted with colour, art and beautiful textures that spark the imagination.
From the moment you step inside this Parisian retreat, you are greeted by a feast of colours. Bold monochrome wallpaper, oversized framed art, sculptures, animal-print rugs and more adds to the dramatic look and feel of this eclectic home.
The house has become a collection of interesting finds and memorabilia gathered by the owners. The end result is a cosmopolitan mix of beautiful and interesting finds, with artwork scattered in every space, from the hallways to the bathroom.
A darker blue tone sets the scene in the hallway, which adds a stylish contrast from the lighter rooms in the house. Here wooden floors adds warmth to the space, along with a beautiful arrangement of vintage furniture, modern art and even a concrete storage installation which has become a display of the owners’ prized glassware and ceramics collections.
The living room is bright and appealing in modern colours and textures. The room itself hints at a past life where 19th century detailing enhances the ceiling and paneled walls give the space more of a traditional feel. The styling however, is far from traditional. Wooden sculptures take centre stage here while bold artwork brings colour and life to this family living space.
A wonderfully contemporary play on black and white takes over in the eclectic dining area. The owners decided to use a bold and dramatic Christian Lacroix Maison wallpaper with a black background. Paired with interesting artwork, it becomes a graphic display of pattern. A mix of chairs and soft furnishings add to the playful use of this colour palette, with a vibrant choice of patterns and textures.
The bedroom is lined with books. A custom bed adds storage cleverly designed into the headboard. Fluffy textures abound and a mix of colour and pattern gives this room an interesting and eclectic feel.
Even the bathroom takes on a life of its own, complete with a freestanding sculpture, framed art, and a beautiful light green shade that creates a warm and inviting ambience in this space.
