Plascon House Tour: A Beautiful Fusion of Grey
We’ve seen grey used in multiple applications within home design over the years. Today’s home keeps it fresh with a backdrop that is equally simple and elegant in a variety of grey tones. Pops of colour and interesting furniture items add a little sparkle against the monotone grey backbone of this elegant home.
From the entry way through to the living room, shades of grey offer a neutral and welcoming backdrop to this Edwardian-styled Melbourne residence. A bold blue doorway welcomes you in while a striking wooden light pendant hints at the many hidden treasures to be found throughout this interior.
The living room takes on a darker, sultry tone with pops of yellow that spices things up here. It is a light-filled room with ample windows and the darker shade chosen for the walls works well here to emphasise the real beauty which is the outdoor garden peering indoors.
A window seat with yellow upholstered seating makes for the ultimate spot on which to unwind while enjoying the outdoor views and perhaps reading a book or warming up in the Melbourne sunshine.
Natural wood flooring adds to the contemporary feel of this large living area. We love the many added furniture items that add a sense of history and have a story to tell – from the bold artwork on the walls to the modern upholstered occasional chair in the corner of the room. The eclectic mix works wonderfully together and draws our eyes inward to experience the many hidden gems in this space.
For tradition with a modern twist, gorgeous antique wallpaper comes to life in this home. This is the Fornasetti Riflesso wallpaper by Cole & Son which adds much interest above a bold floating shelf in grey.
The kitchen too is filled with a mix of modern and traditional influences. We love the contemporary open plan shelving with white crockery that evidently pops against the dark grey walls. A reclaimed kitchen table in wood, however, adds a sense of history and tradition in this space. We love the mix of old and new here.
Overall, this home is surprising with many unconventional choices that somehow works together in a beautiful blend.
