Marriott International Unveils Africa’s First Orlando-Pirates Themed Hotel Room
Renowned local interior designer, Latoyah Mei, has meticulously crafted the Orlando Pirates-themed room, capturing the essence of the team’s legacy and success over the years. The room features the legendary black and white stripes that symbolize the club, exuding elegance, and sophistication. Guests will be greeted by sleek furniture with black metal accents, perfectly complementing the iconic Orlando Pirates colours. The ambiance is further enhanced by warm woods, ambient lighting, and contemporary monochromatic prints, providing a touch of luxury.
To transport fans back in time and ignite a sense of pride, the room showcases a captivating mural of legendary players and carefully curated football memorabilia. Innovatively, stadium lighting is integrated into the room’s flooring, creating a dynamic atmosphere. Additionally, the Vilakazi street tower signage has been repurposed as a functional bag and coat holder, infusing the space with authenticity and charm.
The Orlando Pirates-themed room thoughtfully displays memorabilia that embodies the essence of the club, prominently featuring its colours and design. By combining a commercial aesthetic with contemporary luxury, the space offers an exceptional experience, incorporating textures and colours that elevate the overall ambiance. Mei’s vision was to create a contemporary and minimalist space, harmoniously blending natural elements to enhance the aesthetic appeal.
Sean Maher, Market Vice President, South Africa, Marriott International, expressed his excitement, stating, “The Orlando Pirates-themed rooms offer an immersive and unforgettable experience that we believe our members and fans will treasure.” Maher further revealed that plans for additional themed rooms across the country are already underway, promising even more exceptional experiences for guests.
Thandi Merafe, the Club’s Media Director, expressed her pride in the partnership with Marriott Bonvoy, the accommodation partner. She stated, “Orlando Pirates is an iconic brand, not only in South Africa but also across the African continent and beyond. The Skull & Crossbones were a symbol of hope during the apartheid era, and Orlando Pirates continues to inspire hope for all our people.”
