Industry Spotlight: We Chat to Revelstone’s Director, Alex Cyprianos
Revelstone is an innovative, passionate and proudly local supplier of traditional and engineered products. When it comes to the latest industry trends and innovations, they remain on the cutting edge of what is available in South Africa. We caught up with Alex Cyprianos, Revelstone’s Director, to find out what makes him tick and how he finds inspiration for this dynamic brand.
What’s your go-to classic colour choice?
“Charcoal – it is our most versatile colour and really complements any design and colour palette – it also wears really well long term and gets better with intense wear and age.”
Is there a hotel, interior or building that most inspires your work?
“The New Silo Hotel at the V&A waterfront was a privilege to be involved with from supplying our Cobbles for the Silo district but also creating special engineered copings and products.”
A place you love to visit?
“Santorini in Greece – Oia is definitely somewhere I’d love to be with my family on a beautiful Summer evening.”
Where do you go to spot new styles?
“As a manufacturer, designer and creator of cast stone products I am always on the look out for new products – being constantly aware of what is around and what people are talking about – looking at trends both locally and internationally helps in creating new products that our clients want, as well as leading our industry forward in trying to raise the standards and push the design boundaries.”
Do you have a favourite restaurant?
“No real favourite but we are so blessed with amazing restaurants in Cape Town that my wife and I love trying a new restaurant every month for date night!!”
Who or what is your biggest design influence?
“Definitely driving my company forward as “the alternative to real stone” so the influence of always making products that are indistinguishable from the Real stone original.”
Any interesting projects you are working on?
“We are supplying some awesome projects in and around Cape Town from domestic and mixed use developments to large Commercial buildings – recently completed The Silo District and Battery Park in V&A Waterfront and Cape Town International to mention a few.”
