Plascon House Tour: A Refuge in New Orleans
A beautifully restful and cosy residence amid the bustle of New Orleans city life – this is the location of today’s house tour. It is a place of relaxation and peace from the noise of the city.
Vintage furniture adds a sense of history and old-world charm in this delicate abode. In the living room, a palette of sandy shades with beige and brown blends in beautifully with a deep indigo as an accent tone. The feature sofa is striking in this space – the velvety rich texture adds depth and cosiness, and the colours are picked up in a striking area rug that ties the room together. The dining room is classic with a traditional feel that is enhanced with period chairs and a vintage display cabinet. An array of straw hats are on display here, adding to the use of neutral, earthy shades present in this space. The kitchen is simple and functional – yet adds to the character of the home with wooden shelving and an array of stunning blue cabinetry. A corner sink works wonderfully in this space, and the timber tones of the countertops add a richness here. At the back of the house is the first bedroom, which is really cosy with an original window that looks out onto the quiet street and boasts a cottage-like feel. A small stairwell takes you to the upper level and the second bedroom. It’s very spacious with a lounge chair where you can read a book and look out across the back garden. The bathroom has retained many of the home’s original features. We particularly love the all-white subway tiles and rich blue flooring which complements the colour palette of the rest of the home. A freestanding vintage tub is ideal here – a soothing place of serenity behind a plush cotton drape. Contact: Plascon Via
