Dulux: Top Tips to Warm up your Living Space this Winter
As winter approaches and temperatures begin to drop, creating a warm and cosy living space becomes essential. Your home should be a sanctuary that provides comfort and respite from the cold weather outside. By incorporating thoughtful interior touches and embracing the power of paint, you can transform your living space into a cosy haven this winter.
The power of colour
One of the easiest ways to warm up your living space is by incorporating colour into your interior design. The Dulux 2023 Colour Futures Flow Palette offers a balanced combination of cool and warm tones proving that the two can work incredibly well once applied to a space. The palette is said to be inspired by the rhythms and tides of nature, this subtle and timeless palette brings a feeling of fluidity, freshness and equilibrium.
“By pairing Wild Wonder and Bright Skies, you can create a very warm and inviting space. Another tip would be to layer the space with different finishes such as wood and creamy linens to add more warmth,” says Dulux Colour Expert Palesa Ramaisa.
Playing with light and texture
Nothing says winter like soft and plush textures. You can enhance the warmth of your living space by incorporating cozy fabrics into your décor but be careful not to overdo deco elements.
“Adding texture with chunky throws or switching out your scatter cushion covers are an affordable way of making over your space for the season. Another simple way to add warmth to a space is the use of ambient light. It’s amazing what a standing lamp can add to a space or how adding your favorite candles can add a luxe feel,” says Ramaisa.
Simple changes with maximum impact
Often people only think of their walls but how many of us actually refresh our doors and trims? You would be amazed at how much of a difference this makes to a space.
“Always take into consideration what fixed elements you have in the space, this would be a couch, coffee table, shelving unit, or rugs. These are items that require a lot more thought to switch out so always make sure that whatever paint colour you choose works well with those elements for a cohesive, timeless look,” adds Ramaisa.
Whichever way you choose to update your home, always make sure that you truly love a trend or item. “Don’t buy items only because you saw your favourite DIY blogger do it. Take into consideration your personal style and space. It’s natural to go on Pinterest and fall in love with a certain look but make sure that you add your personal touch and spin on the look, make sure that you have enough floor space to pull off the particular look, consider how functional the trend is and if it works for your lifestyle,” concludes Ramaisa.
