Designer Alert: Step Into This Montauk Retreat
A masterful renovation brings an old home to life in Montauk, Long Island. It is here where owners fell in love with the simple architecture and structure of this home, converting it into a glamorous family residence.
Hugged by an L-shape of swimming-pool blue, with the azure sea beyond, the main living spaces and master bedroom overlook the blissful pool, while a subterranean guest bedroom has a window that peeks into the pool at underwater level. This made dipping into the owner’s favourite colour, turquoise, an easy choice.
The property has interesting and varying levels – each offering an unique perspective of life in this beautiful residence. The result is a home with an open flow, yet quieter, more private nooks and interesting turns are interspersed throughout.
Bold splashes of colour, glass and patterns are on display throughout this contemporary home. The owner worked with the vibrant greens and shades of heather and lavender that flourish in the garden in summer, and ushered them into the living room.
Interesting nooks have been filled with colour and art. One space which leads between rooms was cleverly converted into a fun game’s room – perfect for a playful afternoon at home with the family! We love how the bright pops of colour continue throughout this home – adding balance and playful cheer to the many spaces that connect the rooms.
The master bedroom too showcases the owner’s favourite shade of turquoise with the incorporation of a feature wall behind the bed. This is tied together with hints of blue in the bedding and bold bedside lamps which add to the overall design aesthetic of this space.
Overall, this home is filled with designer details and magnificent architecture that adds interest to each space.
