Cloud Dancer Named Pantone’s Color of the Year 2026, Symbolising Stillness and Imagination

Pantone has unveiled its Color of the Year for 2026: PANTONE 11-4201 Cloud Dancer, a soft, billowing white that captures a growing collective longing for serenity, clarity and renewal. In a world that feels increasingly overstimulated, Cloud Dancer arrives as a gentle counterpoint: an airy, ethereal hue that invites stillness, introspection and the quiet conditions where creativity can rise.

Like a fresh canvas, Cloud Dancer symbolises the shedding of old thinking and the possibility of beginning again. It is a colour that asks us to pause, breathe and clear mental space, allowing imagination to drift, ideas to take shape and new ways of seeing to unfold. Its presence speaks to a shift toward intentional living, where strength is found not only in action but in the capacity to simply be.

“At this time of transformation, when we are reimagining our future and our place in the world, PANTONE 11-4201 Cloud Dancer is a discreet white hue offering a promise of clarity,” says Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute. “A conscious statement of simplification, it enhances focus and frees us from the cacophony of external distraction.”

Laurie Pressman, Vice-President of the Pantone Color Institute, adds: “Cloud Dancer opens space for creativity, allowing imagination to wander so that new insights and bold ideas can take shape.”

To celebrate this year’s hue, Pantone is launching a creative initiative spotlighting artists across disciplines. Throughout 2026, limited-edition designs will reinterpret Cloud Dancer through fashion, graphics, art and object, each offering a fresh perspective on how colour connects, inspires and transforms. The first collaboration, with illustrator Emiliano Ponzi, introduces a collector’s tote bag that translates Cloud Dancer into his signature visual language.
