2020 Design Trend: Shades of Blue
Gone are the days where we all relied on a safe shade of grey, white or beige in our interior styling. 2020’s hot new colour – or should we say ‘cool’ new colour – is BLUE. We’re loving the many possibilities with this calming colour, from bold navy tones to sky blue, cobalt, sapphire, azure and everything in-between.
What do the experts have to say?
Pantone has named CLASSIC BLUE as 2020’s Colour of the Year while international brand, Sherwin Williams announced that “Naval” — a rich navy blue — is the paint company’s choice for 2020 Colour of the Year. “Naval is the new, approachable neutral that goes with everything.”
Whatever your preference, we can all agree that shades of blue are here to stay.
In the bedroom: We’re thinking bold blue bedside tables for that punch of colour.
In the kitchen: What about a bold blue backsplash or deep blue cabinetry for a more regal and elegant feel!
In the bathroom: A hint of blue paint on the walls will work well with a variety of tones. Keep it sleek in shades of white and blue or go for a more luxurious touch with rose gold accents and fixtures to complement a deep blue bathroom wall.
In the living room: Blue accent decor is a great way to change things up and embrace the latest colour trend, even when you’re on a budget.
Outdoor living: Accents of blue will add to your home’s curb appeal. Think oversized blue pots leading up to your front door or be brave and paint your door in that striking Naval tone for a truly majestic entrance.
