Duravit: Salone del Mobile in Milan
Heralding in a new era of bathroom design, Duravit has unveiled several new products and designs at this year’s Salone del Mobile in Milan. Stand-out pieces include the relaunch of the Starck Barrel in celebration of the design’s 30th anniversary.
Starck Barrel: vision and elegance for a timeless design
“With its clear and timeless design language, the Starck Barrel rises above short-lived bathroom trends, sets new standards, and has become one of Duravit’s best-selling individual furniture pieces,” says the company. “This year, the elegant and visionary Starck Barrel celebrates its 30th anniversary with an upgrade: a large selection of colours for washbasin, furniture, and handles brings the elegant c-bonded variant of this icon right up to date and opens up opportunities for unique and contemporary designs.”
Also launched at the show was Duravit’s new Sivida and Aurena ranges.
Structured elegance: additional attractive surfaces such as Marbled Oak and Natural Walnut are available for the furniture. Inner dividers for drawers, which can be added later, enhance tidiness in the bathroom
Designed by Philippe Starck, the collection offers mineral-cast washbasins and furniture with varied design options.
“Sivida is unique. It is a very essential design but with the colourful twist of life. Pale green, white and dark grey, available to create duo combinations that fit all environments. Elegant, joyful and functional, Sivida is the new collection for our everyday life,” explains Starck of the new sleek range of bathroom furniture.
Offering a complete bathroom range in a uniform design, the elegant Aurena collection, meanwhile, offers integrated washing area solutions with innovative vanity tops, as well as matching bathtubs, toilets, bidet, and a mirror in elegant finishes such as textured wood, marble-look ceramic panels, lacquer, glass, or aluminium.
Designed by Antonio Citterio, the design for the collection was inspired by the Golden Ration.
Design statement: ceramic console and floor-standing shelving unit create unity and offer ample storage space.
“The idea was to structure surfaces and create a sense of order that also positively influences the quality of the overall room,” explains Citterio of the perfectly proportioned designs.
“Aurena is a versatile interior-design all-rounder and is as equally well suited for use in private or guest bathrooms as in signature properties such as hotels, medical offices, or office and restaurant restrooms,” says Duravit. “Aurena by Antonio Citterio is the first complete ceramic series to be launched with the new HygieneGlaze® Plus surface. This unique bathroom upgrade combines unsurpassed hygiene with effortless, environmentally sound cleaning.”
