Victorian Bathrooms: A Magnificent McGregor Farmhouse
Nestled in the heart of McGregor, a quaint town where time is measured by the reliable neighbourhood rooster and chiming of the church bell, lies this splendid farmhouse home. Designed by Sam Muir of Minc Design and using bathroomware from Victorian Bathrooms, these bathrooms reflect a beautiful fusion of the natural elements of the area brought to life with strokes of bold modern influences.
The brief was simple; “Create a farmhouse-style holiday home where the client and his family could escape on weekends, away from the city; a place where they could relax in the tiny hamlet of McGregor, connected to a simpler way of life.”
When asking Sam about the inspiration for this project she had the following to say; “Our inspiration for this farmhouse project took us back to the original intention of farmhouses: a simple refuge, representing a peaceful yet productive lifestyle. It was important for us to approach the project using honest and humble materials and fittings which are authentic and practical. Farmhouses were homes grounded in purity, honesty and simple values, each house taking on the imprint of people who lived there. This is why we involved the client each step of the way in sourcing of all the materials used, the hand chosen fittings and many reclaimed pieces, each item with a story and history behind them”.
The use of the rustic décor elements, brushed brass tapware and statement bathroom pieces together with the crispness of the white ceramicware and tiles, brings a fresh take to this farmhouse chic bathroom design. The brushed brass finish on the Britannia tapware and VB bathroom accessories evokes the warmth and rawness of the surrounding countryside whilst the black levers add a touch of ‘edge’. The Classique bath in the main bathroom reflects Victorian Bathrooms’ Modern Classic style with its timelessly appealing classic design whilst the Art Deco feet and glossy black exterior gives it a modern twist.
Awaiting in the mezzanine loft, bursting with colour and character, the Chaise bath on Art Deco feet in a striking Monsoon Lagoon painted finish stands proudly in the open-plan bedroom. The sleek and comfortable Chaise bath is accompanied by our timeless collection of Britannia tapware in a brushed brass finish with white accents, keeping this colourful configuration classic and clean.
“Victorian Bathrooms was our first and only choice for fittings. The attention to small details and high quality of each fitting is one of a kind. We chose the Britannia Collection for its classic styling and functionality, and the brushed brass finish with dramatic black levers gave us the look and feel we were trying to achieve. We loved the option for the custom bespoke colours available in the freestanding cast acrylic baths, giving us the custom finish and look for this special home”. Victorian Bathrooms is thrilled to have been selected for this project and appreciative of Sam’s feedback.
