Bella Bathrooms presents Victorian with a modern twist

There is something mesmerising about the way in which modern designers take us back in time with an interesting exploration of past styles. The Victorian era is reminiscent of floral patterns, muted tones and distinctly romantic interiors. Here we take a look at how Bella Bathrooms are embracing the Victorian age and bringing it back into modern bathrooms with a magical twist.

The first bathroom we will be touring today is a dainty contemporary Victorian bathroom style (see first photograph below) built up on a beautiful wooden floor which adds a richness to the room while accentuating the bathroom furniture and features by creating a striking contrast in colour. The Victorian standalone bath is neatly tucked away in one corner, showcasing a grey painted finish, standalone mixer and beautiful ball and claw detail that has a private feel to it.

It is flanked by a beautiful Victorian chair, and a ‘his and hers’ vanity. Here detail in the cabinetry infuses a contemporary masculine elegance to the room offset by the feminine touch of the printed wall paper and the under slung basins set in a darker pinkish hue vanity top. The grey of the bath continues the introduction of a masculine element to the room, extended to the vanity mirrors and the subtle grey of the marble tiled shower, complete with a shower seat to accommodate 2 people.

Lighting is reminiscent of the candles of the early Victorian era, used in both the chandelier above the bath and on each side of the vanity mirrors, rounding off this, soft look which delicately infuses a masculine influence on the bathroom’s overall Victorian femininity. In the second bathroom, we see a funky Victorian design with a modern twist which is effectively achieved through the interplay and modification of design elements, starting with the stunning floor finish of black tile with its marble inlay, reflected in the black and white bath which has a matching coloured basin. The ornate mirror imitates the shape of the basin and acts as a modified version of the rounded pattern on the floor, giving the Victorian look a unique modern angle.

While the bath is Victorian in origin, its modern touch is facilitated by the asymmetry of its design, echoed in the funky rounded contours of the chair. This rounded shape is continued in the custom Perspex stand and freestanding mixer with its curved and matching taps.

The walls with the painted mould provide a Victorian context which unites the bathroom design elements. Again the modern touch is introduced through the French Provence architecture of the windows while the positioning of the chess pieces serves as a throwback to Victorian charm, using the floor design to create a checkerboard effect. And finally, let’s take a peek into this delightfully styled Victorian bathroom that combines effortless simplicity with attention to detail to create a distinctive bathroom design. Detail is found in the freestanding bath with its characteristic claw feature, further enhanced by the freestanding mixer with an ivory hand-shower & double standpipes, typical of this era.

White dominates the room, from the painted wall to the sit on round basins with their special detailed taps to the artistic way in which the classical furniture has been repurposed as a vanity unit, adding a unique detail to this Victorian bathroom. Here the picture frame and flowers add additional interest to this nostalgic bathroom design.

Further detail contributing to this Victorian charm is found in the couch, offset by the coloured rug together with the flowing curtains, while the quaint coat hanger with its decorative bowler hat completes this picturesque design effect.
