4 reasons why you need lemons in your home

The beautifully refreshing smell of citrus is a welcome aroma in any home. Lemons are such a great versatile fruit with many benefits in any interior space. Here’s our top reasons why we absolutely love using lemons in the home.

Lemon Scents

The scent of lemon alone immediately hints at a clean space. It offers a fresh, appealing and oh so inviting fragrance in just about any room around your home. Use lemon scented candles or lemon essence to emit this invigorating aroma in your bathroom or kitchen. The citrus smell works to neutralise any unsavoury odours. Alternatively, leave a bowl of fresh lemons in your kitchen or dining room for that sweet citrus smell – and allow it to linger throughout your home.

Squeaky clean kitchens

Lemon has many anti-bacterial properties and is often the perfect ingredient in any home cleaning agent. Add lemon drops to your dish water or use the juice of this fruit diluted in water to deep clean your entire kitchen – from the microwave to your countertops. Lemon also works to remove stains. You can soak all your plastic food storage containers in diluted lemon juice to remove food stains and odours.

Copper love

If you have embraced the industrialist interior trend and have incorporated copper finishes in your home, you may need to find a suitable way to maintain these shiny elements. Lemon may be your answer to keeping these beauties in pristine condition. A simple scrub made of lemon and salt will help to restore lustre to copper items.

Say goodbye to soap scum

Soap scum and grime build up in your bathroom are often caused by a combination of dirt, soap and water which creates an unsightly grey film in the bathroom – on tiles, toilets, tubs, shower curtains, bathroom fixtures and even bathroom floors. To remove soap scum, rub the surface with a cut lemon. The acidic liquid will break down bacteria and dirt in no time at all. To keep these areas free of soap scum, rinse them thoroughly after each use so there’s nowhere for bacteria to grow. Take great care of your home and make use of our handy tips to keep your space crisp and clean.
