An open and conversational home was the brief for this sleek Melbourne home. Owners opted to remodel the place to improve the flow and create a modern and fresh ambience. The end result is a bright home with ample indoor and outdoor spaces for modern living.

The outdoor spaces have certainly become a focal point, complete with outdoor entertainment areas and a luxury swimming pool well suited to those hot summer days. The interior boasts bold windows – from floor to ceiling – to optimise the outdoor views and natural lighting.

The vertical black cladding is stylish and eye-catching on the exterior of the property. Owners also opted for a full landscaping to maximise the outdoor areas. This creates an interesting contrast and relationship between old and new.

Outside, the new design now boasts three areas set at different levels, where people can all hang together or enjoy quiet relaxation.

Changes included the introduction of two outdoor entertainment spaces – seamlessly connecting home and garden – while the master bedroom took on a new persona with the addition of a luxurious ensuite and considerably larger wardrobe space.

The kitchen also takes on a contemporary sleek tone with matte black cabinets and beautiful oak flooring. The kitchen island echoes these tones with matching bar stools in black and timber. The European oak floorboards wrap up into the benchtop, and the combination of white stone benchtops add contrast with the dark overhanging cupboards.

Inside, the home was given a minimalist albeit contemporary feel – thanks to the assistance of interior stylist Kirstin Sweet, who worked together with the homeowner to create a relaxed and light ambience with the finishings. A lot of light timbers on the floors, joinery and furniture, counterbalances the minimalist façade with dark timber window frames.
