Design Joburg Welcomes Marble
Johannesburg’s premier designer event, Design Joburg, is back for another year of innovation, featuring Rooms on View and Collaboration – and promising to wow audiences with a whole new exciting range of products and famous brands including ‘CoLab’ by Marble joining the show. Don’t miss out from 25 to 27 May 2018 at the Sandton Convention Centre.
With thousands of visitors to last year’s inaugural show, the climate proved right for a unique showcase of the very best that the local décor and design trade has to offer. The show’s curative process is set to top the maiden exhibition, with 2018 offering a larger selection of design industry trailblazers, all of whom will transform the Sandton Convention Centre into a nucleus of interior (and exterior) design talent. Bringing a level of distinction to this year’s increasingly exciting line-up at Design Joburg, featuring Rooms on View, chef David Higgs and his team from Joburg’s first live-fire restaurant, Marble, are joining the show. Marble is unveiling a pop up restaurant tagged CoLab. The name takes its cue from the show’s guiding philosophy of collaboration; CoLab being the title of the show’s much-anticipated main features. Furthermore, it speaks to Marble’s own journey of collaboration with suppliers, designers, artists and artisans in shaping their brand and their upcoming CoLab pop up. Visitors can expect both food and design trends to converge under the expert direction of Higgs and interior designer Irene Kyriacou of Oniroco (who was responsible for the outstanding design of Marble restaurant).

What’s more: Rooms on View: Rooms on View’s long-awaited hit return as SA’s benchmark decorating show proved to be exactly what discerning lovers of décor and design were seeking. With exhibitors displaying their wares within innovative room sets, this element of the show will once again be under the sharp curative eye of renowned South African interior designer Sumari Krige. The next edition of this show within a show will bring the latest in cutting edge décor to Design Joburg. “Rooms on View continues to play a vital role in showcasing SA’s quintessential décor and design offering.
This time, I’m looking forward to enhancing the original experience and superseding everyone’s expectations,” says Sumari Krige, Founder and Creative Director of Rooms on View. Collaboration: Last year’s collaborations were a true innovation, and a hit with attendees. So, in 2018, we’re refining, formalising and supersizing this aspect of the show for both exhibitors and visitors. Because these collective spaces are so inventive and experimental, we’ve dubbed them CoLabs. The overall concept remains the same: curated feature exhibits that bring together leading architects and interior designers with top drawer brands, local artisans and suppliers. They’re just taking the alchemy up a notch.
