Discover Seraf Vadi Restaurant: A Delicate Architectural Forest by Yeşim Kozanlı
In the heart of Istanbul, a culinary oasis awaits, inspired by the rich cultural heritage of Anatolia. Seraf Vadi Restaurant, designed by Yeşim Kozanlı Architecture, is a masterpiece that harmoniously blends traditional craftsmanship with modern sophistication.
A Story Rooted in Anatolian Culture
The restaurant’s narrative is deeply rooted in the warm and sincere culture of Anatolia, where traditional handicrafts and craftsmanship are highly valued. Interior Architect Yeşim Kozanlı, with over 25 years of experience in hospitality and gastronomy, has skillfully translated this cultural context into a contemporary design that touches the senses.
Unifying, warm, and sincere. These definitions, which are fundamental features of traditional Turkish culture, are born from the fertile lands and deep-rooted culture of Anatolia. This geography, which has hosted many civilizations, has enabled the development and transmission of cultures into the future. Today, this unity is reflected in every field, from handicrafts to architecture. Patterns that refer to family ties, togetherness, and production are modernized and used today.
The Tree of Life: A Unifying Element
The “tree of life” form, symbolizing unity and the roots of life, stands proudly at the restaurant’s centre. This modernized design element serves as a functional reference point, around which the colours, materials, and interior architectural elements are carefully arranged. The tree of life becomes a powerful symbol of the unifying table culture that Seraf Vadi Restaurant embodies.
The most used materials were glass, stone and wood. To preserve the permeability in the house, all facades were surrounded by opening glass application. The natural stones offered by the topography were matched with specially manufactured ceramics and marbles, ensuring continuity from the soil. Wooden surfaces were preferred in almost all interior surfaces and natural materials were used inside. All materials work together in a balanced way for a warmer environment.
The intensive use of natural materials such as wood, stone, and ceramic creates a warm and inviting ambience. It also hints at the designer’s close connection to nature and the natural world. Earthy tones and carefully selected furniture pieces add depth and sophistication to the space, reflecting the quality standards of the restaurant while emphasizing naturalness.
Special lighting choices complete the design, crafting an atmosphere that is both intimate and lively. The result is an environment where design transcends into an experience that touches human emotions, making Seraf Vadi Restaurant a truly unique destination.
