Cielo’s 2023 Design Forecasts & Trends You Won’t Want to Miss
From creative lighting design to fashion, warm colour palettes and the trend of combining old with new, 2023 is still set to be a bumper year of innovation in the design industry. We asked the experts from Cielo to share the latest trend forecasts we don’t want to miss out on for the rest of this year…
What are you predicting as the hottest design trends of 2023? What’s hot? What’s not? Our readers want to know…
It’s clear that 2023 will provide an invaluable opportunity for homeowners to really unleash their design impulses, and create spaces brimming with personality. There are a few new colours, textures and materials making themselves known in 2023, but most importantly, there are new moods. Most of these new moods tend to revolve around bold colours and decorative patterns. Introducing a sense of fun and joy to your space is the order of the day.
The latest design trends are likely to shape how we decorate this year, with a focus on natural materials, neutral colours, and sustainability. Other trends include bold patterns, maximalism, and a move towards more comfortable, cosy spaces.
Zellige
An example of this new trend for 2023 is the Moroccan tile trend taking the world by storm called ‘Zellige’. A slight deviation from traditional mosaic tiles, Zellige focuses on monochromatic hues with a shimmery surface. This vibe can be recreated without the installation of tiles, by using large furniture in monochromatic hues to bring that bold dash of colour to your space.
Renovations and home makeovers: What’s new in the world of renovations and what tips can you offer owners regarding home and office makeovers this season?
The new design trend of “organic brutalism” is emerging this year, which combines elements of old and new. Adding some kind of brutalist pieces into your space makes it feel intentionally designed and aspirational. Introducing a combination of blocky geometric shapes in natural grain feels is a top tip for all your 2023 makeover plans.
What about setting the mood through lighting design? What do you think will stick around this season?
Creative lighting – This trend emerged in 2022 and will continue to be prevalent in the summer of 2023. Interesting forms of lighting as well as quirky designs for the lights themselves will be relevant.
Let’s talk trendy colourways. What are you seeing as highlight tones this season?
In terms of colours and textures, warm neutrals and gold accents on warm wood tones will continue to dominate over cooler colour palettes in 2023. Calming tones, particularly in bedroom spaces are set to roll over from last year.
Fashion and Design: Are the worlds of interior design and fashion connected? From top upholstery fabrics to trending hues – share your input on how these worlds collide…
The most notable similarity between interior and fashion design is that they both provide the means by which an individual can express themselves freely. Both are a medium for consumers to distinguish their personal style and portray how they feel about themselves.
2023 is just now heating up! Expect to see a shift towards more eco-friendly materials, statement lighting, and a focus on creating a sense of balance and calm in our living spaces. Industrial and vintage elements are also making a comeback.
