In 2014 the Ace Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles opened its doors for the first time. The historic United Artists building is situated in Downtown LA. Atelier Ace worked with the local collective Commune Design to restore the 1927 building and theater, transforming it into a grand hotel, inspired by Rudolf Schindler’s residence in West Hollywood. The upstairs rooftop space (as seen below) was made complete with an indoor/outdoor lounge and pool, similar to that of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Ennis House. Furnishings comprise of a fusion of Equipale-styled items and pieces by sculptor Alma Allen of Joshua Tree. For more info, contact: Ace Hotel website.via
