Red Daffodil: On The Slopes of Signal Hill
In 2021, we are inspired by green spaces, eco-friendly living and lush gardens. The team from Red Daffodil show us how it is done with this beautiful landscape design on the slopes of Signal Hill.
This garden was carefully terraced using walls of rock excavated from the site to prevent erosion. It helps to create a set of tiered platforms linking the living space with the wild hillside behind. Care was taken to make the walls as unobtrusive as possible. A hardy, water-wise mix of exotic, perennial grasses mixed with aromatic fynbos buchus and pelargoniums add to the end result. It is now a garden that is not only visually appealing but also very aromatic.
Tip: Engage the senses when you’re planning your garden design. Don’t simply think of the visual impact, but consider the sights, sounds and also the smells and beautiful aromatics that your garden will add to your home.
Red Daffodil takes great pride in being able to work on gardens such as this one. Their work spans across the Western Cape, as far afield as Yzerfontein, Kleinmond and Franschhoek. Projects vary in size from simple garden clean-ups to major estate gardens and corporate offices.
