Brick Pavers

Brickpavers1 Because brick pavers are both hard-wearing and aesthetically appealing, they’ve become a popular material for a wide variety of outdoor applications. Whether it’s patios, pools, garden pathways or driveways, this classic paving option has a lot to offer. But as with all paving materials, years of wear and tear can take its toll – even the best quality brick pavers can deteriorate over time.

That’s why it’s important to carry out the correct maintenance routine every so often. With this in mind, we thought we’d share a few brick paver maintenance tips from Corobrik. So read on if you’d like some helpful advice to ensure your brick pavers stay in tip-top condition.

4 Maintenance Tips That’ll Make Your Brick Pavers Look Brand New

  1. Give Your Brick Pavers A Regular Clean

Algae and mold can creep up before you know it. But you can easily stop these unsightly organisms from ruining your pavers with a probiotic cleaner. Just spray the cleaning solution directly onto your pavers, leave it for around 20 minutes and then spray it away with a hosepipe or high pressure cleaner.   It’s also important to make sure you constantly sweep away any debris or dirt that gets stuck in between the gaps, as this could abrade your pavers over time.

  1. Get Rid Of Weeds As Soon As Possible

Always ensure you remove any weeds that grow through gaps in your brick pavers, as these have the potential to cause cracks. You should also spray a simple weed killing solution between the gaps to get rid of weeds before they become a problem.

  1. Keep Pavers In Place With Jointing Sand

Because the joints between brick pavers are more susceptible to damage, it’s a good idea to always keep these topped up with jointing sand. This will hold your pavers in place and stop the sand-bedding layer below from weakening. Which will, in turn, prevent your pavers from shifting around.

  1. Fix Up Unsightly Areas With A Brick Paver Sealant

Sealants should only be used as a remedial solution in areas, for example, that have excessive moisture. In this case, the sealant will help retard the growth of algae in moist and shaded areas.   Be sure to consult with your sealant supplier for a recommendation of what to use in your particular area of application. It’s also a good idea to avoid surface coating sealants and opt for sealants that absorb into the pores of your brick pavers.
