KZN Eco Estate Kitchen Makes Finals in Top Kitchen Design Competition

The Simbithi Eco Estate is the tropical setting of the second Kwa-Zulu Natal kitchen design to be selected as a finalist in the Caesarstone Kitchen of the Year competition. Kim Hansen from Kitchen Classics was the designer behind the white and grey, high gloss, modern kitchen and designed it according to a brief from Priya and Marlin Naicker. “I just loved the end result. We told Kim what we wanted and what we needed and she pulled it all together for us,” says homeowner Priya Naicker, who spends a lot of time cooking and baking with her two sons. Kim incorporated bi-fold doors, LED lighting below the floating cabinets and an underslung sink as feature design elements in this kitchen. “It was great to work from the building stage, because I could get the windows at the correct height and allow the Caesarstone countertops to flow seamlessly into the windows,” says Kim. Bielle Bellingham, editor of Elle Decoration; celebrity chef, Reuben Riffel; creative director of the Expresso Morning Show, Bradley van den Berg; Mor Krisher, head of product design for Caesarstone International; and former Caesarstone Kitchen of the Year winner, Beth Haynes were the judges behind the selection of the eight finalists in the Caesarstone Kitchen of the Year competition. “We chose this kitchen because of the use of these big windows and the natural light that comes in creates quite a nice atmosphere. It’s a kitchen that I would love to work in,” says Reuben.
