Plascon House Tour: Langebaan Escape

A laid back summer holiday abode along the coast is where we will be touring today. Here a fresh, light and contemporary interior inspires creativity and easy coastal living – the perfect family retreat on the lagoon in Langebaan.

Designed by Sumari Krige from La Grange Interiors, this 16-sleeper holiday home achieves her signature look of comfortable elegance. A vision of chilled-out coastal living and the sort of considered high chic that comes from an expert eye. A soft neutral palette is used throughout this whitewashed beach retreat. Open shelving, natural wooden finishes, and crisp, streamlined design elements are used as feature elements. An oversized fireplace is a perfect addition to inspire warmth and cosiness in the heart of the home. White and grey walls and furniture add to a sense of space – making the rooms appear bigger and more voluminous. The kitchen is modern and streamlined. Beautiful glassware and crockery take centre stage on full-length floating shelves above contemporary cabinetry in grey tones. Stylish washed oak flooring is barefoot-friendly and on trend, offering a sense of warmth and depth throughout the interior of the house. There is also a sense of lived-in elegance and flair in this home. Rustic pieces and wooden furniture work together to create harmony in the living room. Old rustic wooden doors are used aesthetically and hint at the colours and textures one would find along the seaside – such as beautiful driftwood now on display. An aged coffee table and simple wooden bench also bring some vintage charm to the room. Neutral striped scatter cushions and a striking rug add a playful yet stylish touch. The bedrooms are chic and simple – the epitome of beach living with nautical stripes in blue and white, playful bunting above the beds, and bold grey wardrobes. Soft wooden tones add to the seaside feel of the space, and the entire bedroom is reminiscent of the colours and airiness of the ocean. Outdoor living is also celebrated here. The large patio area is an extension of the interior style of the home. Neutral tones, woven patio furniture and comfortable furnishings make the patio an inviting space. A large outdoor dining area also provides the perfect spot for lagoon-side entertaining.

Get comfy on the outdoor sofas, ready with oversized cushions and throws; or take a seat at one of the many woven rattan dining chairs and enjoy a meal outdoors, in the crisp coastal air. We also love the use of grouped lanterns on the patio as a bold feature. A touch of greenery in an oversized vase also makes a stylish statement as a centrepiece on the dining table.
