When you own a home along the coast, what better way to celebrate the ocean than with a classic beach house design with a modern twist! This home in West Sussex, England, does just that by embracing the colours, textures and ambience of life at the sea!
A colour scheme of neutrals with subtle hints of – aqua, pastel and indigo – defines the essence of this English residence along the seaside. As a beach house, we get the feeling of casual elegance and laid-back modern living. Beachwood furniture with woven interior accents adds to the relaxed seaside atmosphere of the place. And we love the striking blown-glass interior lamps on display in the living area! The open-plan kitchen is both simplistic and modern. Dark cabinetry makes a bold statement against a paler backdrop with white kitchen island. Oversized woven lampshades add drama and depth while there is a natural cohesion with warmer tones used in the counter stools and wine rack above the refrigerator. We commend the use of charcoal, white and warmer woody tones in this area – creating a tranquil, lived-in yet modern interior, ideal for entertaining guests! The dining room, interestingly, takes on a more traditional tone with classic dining chairs and vintage dining table. A stunning metal cased chandelier beautifully cascades above the room, and your eye is naturally drawn outside to the beautiful greenery evident in the garden. Pops of flora are present indoors, and rightly so, bringing bits of the natural world into the design of this bespoke residence. Modern, blue and white, printed fabric is used as upholstered seating – adding a touch of the contemporary world to this otherwise classic look! Vaulted ceilings in the bedroom add height and drama and the entire space has a calming, neutral vibe going on! We love the subtle incorporation of blue in the soft furnishings, but nothing so overpowering that it distracts from the true tranquility created in this space. A gorgeous rich indigo tone is brought to life in the bathroom, which is possibly our favourite room in this seaside retreat. A simplistic, striking circular mirror takes centre stage here and we love the inclusion of two modern glass pendants on either side – bringing symmetry and style to the interior. Stunning two-toned baskets are used for storage and a matching vanity (in our favourite indigo colour) along with a freestanding bathroom sink completes the look! Contact: Plascon Via
