 La Grange Interiors

On the sleepy, sandy shores of Yzerfontein on the West Coast of South Africa, overlooking the vast Atlantic Ocean, you’ll find something a little out of the ordinary.

For it is here, in this tranquil beach town, that homeowners Karin König and Fred de Beer, constructed a sandcastle of a different kind.

With the help of architect Gavin Maddock, the couple constructed a new build that shattered coastal style conventions with stark lines, and dark, raw concrete and timber construction materials that blend into the rugged landscape.

The cool and contemporary linear design is complemented by luxuriously appointed interiors by La Grange Interiors.

Inspired by the homeowners’ favourite holiday spot, Ko Samui, the luxe beach hideaway, which consists of the owners’ living quarters, as well as rental accommodation, is characterised by an easy indoor-outdoor flow and plenty of comfy spots for relaxing.

“I want couples to experience comfort and luxury as if in a hotel suite, to take a bubble bath overlooking the ocean or to walk the few steps down to the unspoilt beach,” says Karin of the concept.

“It was my desire to create an environment in which one can recharge, take a moment and just be.”

To do so, Sumari Krige of La Grange Interiors chose beautiful yet durable furniture and accessory pieces in a neutral palette, with a splash of aquatic colour, to create a luxurious, layered decor scheme.

From stretch-out, sink-in sofas and sun loungers to spacious dining spaces ideal for entertaining and custom crockery by Mervyn Gers, the space is all about small luxuries. And the biggest luxury of all – time to unwind.
